065 - Alexithymia & Connecting with Your...

Carole Jean Whittington, Autistic Burnout Researcher at Whittington Well-Being
About this episode

One of the reasons why most Late Identified Autistics are struggling to identify emotions and not able to easily put words to all the feelings and often the simultaneous experience of feeling nothing is due to something called Alexithymia.

Often autistics with alexithymia are not sure what to do or how to get to the root or word of a feeling and this can often lead to overwhelm, shutdown and autistic burnout because this can use great amounts of energy to not know how to identify and communicate how you are feeling to yourself and to others.

In this episode, we’re going to talk about how to connect the feelings in our body to the emotions in our minds, how we can better identify them, and meet a firefly named Gem who will speak to your heart and will help you begin a path to easier connection to your emotions through her adventures & story.  I am joined today by master storyteller and author of the Gem's Island Adventure series, Katie Soy. So if this interests you please join us for this conversation.
