Today I have a very special guest to introduce to you. She is none other than Dr. Dorothy Adamson Holley, A.K.A. Drum Dr. Dot.
Many of you already know her because you’ve heard her music and seen her perform in various venues, others have not. So, who is Drum Dr. Dot? Well, let me tell you a little bit about her.
Dr. Dorothy Adamson Holley, also known as Drum Dr. Dot, is a psychologist, clinical social worker, author, recording artist, songwriter, vocalist, percussionist, dancer, harmonicist, and healer through music. She is the founder of Drum Dr. Dot Creative Healing Practices and co-founded of Nyame Nti Cultural Healing Arts Therapy (N-CHAT), a nonprofit organization combining mental health and the arts.
She is the founder of Breathe Holistic Counseling, which specializes in nontraditional psychotherapy. Drum Dr. Dot created Drumetry™, an art form that combines two of her passions, drumming and poetry. She is a percussionist, vocalist, and harmonicist with the Baltimore band Roses n Rust and the DRT-Y Blues Acoustic Duo & Trio, and she performs African drumming and dance with N-CHAT. Her books, Talk Therapy (Alone) Is Not Enough: Creative Practices for Trauma Treatment and Drumetry: Drumming with Poetry, are available at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can find her Drumetry albums as well as her newly released singer-songwriter album, UNBOXED!, on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms.
