Mental Health in South Asian Women and H...

The Holistic Hormones Pharmacist
About this episode

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness month, in this week’s episode, Ektha and I discuss:

  • A holistic approach to mental well-being, incorporating the mind, body and spirit

  • The factors that affect mental health in South Asian women v non-South Asian women, and in men v women

  • Tips on how to get started with improving your mental well-being and how to get support

This was such an insightful conversation and I wish I knew about a holistic approach to mental well-being and the different treatment options available when I was looking for support before for my anxiety and seasonal depression. It’s conversations like this from passionate providers like Ektha that allow us all to learn and take steps towards the right way to support ourselves.

Ektha Aggrawal is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a multifaceted leader in the field of mental health, distinguished by her role as the founder of both Shakti Therapy and Healing Services and Jiva Mental Health. Her work with Jiva Mental Health and Shakti Therapy emphasizes creating safe, supportive environments where individuals can thrive and heal.

Ektha integrates ancient Eastern wisdom with contemporary scientific methodologies to address the root causes of mental distress, rather than merely easing symptoms. Her innovative treatments include crystal healing, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and other holistic interventions aimed at facilitating deep, transformative healing.

An accomplished speaker and thought leader, Ektha actively contributes to the mental health discourse at seminars and corporate panels nationwide, including engagements for major corporations like NVIDIA, focusing on mental wellness within AAPI communities. Her scholarly and advocacy efforts have been published in venues such as ScienceDirect, Good Indian Girl blog, Brown Women’s Health, and Women’s Web.
