What Really Helped in Anorexia Nervosa R...

HARRIET FREW
About this episode

Today I’m talking to Florence Taglight. Florence is a primary school teacher and mental health lead who has recovered from anorexia nervosa.

Florence has a unique perspective as she has been to treatment, in both the U.K and the U.S.A. Interestingly, the differences in treatment approach, aspects of culture and education shocked her and has led her to commit to making a difference in this field. Advocating for teacher and school eating disorders training is high on Florence’s to do list and she offers training sessions in schools to help adults learn about early signs and interventions.

Florence has three dogs who are her world and keep her grounded. She loves nothing more than drinking a coffee surrounded by her furry friends whilst battling diet-culture.

In the episode today, we’re going to explore Florence’s recovery journey – understanding her unique perspective of experiencing UK and USA treatment approaches in eating disorder recovery. And to acknowledge aspects of each approach which have helped/are helping her to continue along the healing road today.

We’ll also delve into Florence’s education work in schools and understand how she is supporting adults to detect early signs of eating disorders and the guidance and support she is recommending in this work, based on her unique and valuable experiences.

Florence is clearly passionate about the work she does. I know that this conversation is going to inspire and offer hope in challenging diet culture to everyone.
