Coffee Talk: The Fourth Trimester/Extrog...

Montessori Moms in the Wild
About this episode

In this last episode before our summer break, Laura discusses what she learned about the concept of the “fourth trimester,” or the first three months of life with a newborn. Laura guides this conversation using the book Understanding the Human Being, by Dr. Silvana Quattrocchi Montanaro, an AMI legend among Assistants to Infancy who dedicated her life to preparing parents for the physical and psychological needs of their children. In her book Dr. Montanaro refers to the integral months after birth as “extrogestation.” What is the fourth trimester/extrogestation? Why is it so important? What are Laura’s main takeaways, and what has she done differently her second time around? Tune in and find out!
