Training the Speed Athlete

Matthew Casturo
About this episode

In this episode, we dive into training the speed athlete. We make connections between the physiology, training adaptations, and programming considerations involved in improving speed.

There are specific physiologic adaptations including rate coding, muscular synchronization, enzyme changes, and muscle fiber type transitions that occur with training.

The programming decisions we make impact the way these physiological variables will change and if our athlete will improve speed.
