Episode 76: Overcome Cravings and "Self Sabotage": Surf The Discomfort Curve

Visual Guide: The Discomfort Curve

1:1 Coaching with Ellie

Show Notes:

One of the biggest reasons the current diet culture doesn't work longterm is that fad diets don't address your ability to manage emotions.

Your ability to sit in discomfort or uncomfortable emotions is a SUPERPOWER.

Learn to ride the waves of discomfort versus escaping with sugar, food, or other numbing agent.

Learn to befriend your inner critic(s) and nurture your inner child(ren)

When you're hit with an impulse to escape/numb/feel better:

  • Pause
  • Breathe
  • Relax Your Body
  • Check in + Compassion for self

Quotes dropped in this episode:

  • “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”- Viktor Frankl
  • "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”- Carl Jung
