00:49 The number 1 tip: When is the best time to drink coffee?

Drinking coffee first thing in the morning does not wake you up, make you alert or give you an energy boost. All it does, according to science, is raise your tolerance for caffeine so that you need to drink more and more of it to feel any effects at all.

If you drink coffee when cortisol is high, the effects are almost non-existent. Compared to cortisol, caffeine is weak tea. The only thing coffee does for you within two hours of waking is to increase your tolerance for caffeine.

If you drink coffee when cortisol is low, caffeine gently nudges your adrenals to give you a hit of adrenalin and you will feel more awake and alert.

Studies in humans have shown that caffeine increases cortisol and epinephrine at rest, and that levels of cortisol after caffeine consumption are similar to those experienced during an acute stress.

Compounding the problem, people tend to consume more caffeine during stressful periods. They add stress to stress, potentially making things even worse.

Rat studies have shown that caffeine consumption during chronic stress increased cortisol, blood pressure, and other negative hormonal events. Chronically stressed rats who consumed caffeine ended up sicker, and died sooner, than rats experiencing chronic stress without caffeine consumption.

03:15 The number 2 tip: add salt to your coffee.

Coffee acts as a diuretic. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19774...

My favorite salt is from Redmonds: https://amzn.to/3lEOAR6

04:23 The number 3 tip: Add healthy fats to your coffee.

Are you adding butter to your coffee? What are the benefits of bulletproof coffee? Popularized by Dave Asprey as Bulletproof Coffee.

By adding fats to your coffee, you are slowing the absorption of the caffeine into your system and prolonging its effects.

Balances Insulin & Maintains Blood Sugar Levels:

Like the first example, when fats slow down your absorption of coffee it actually helps to prevent sharp insulin spikes and blood sugar crashes. The grass-fed butter or coconut oil will act as a nerve signal traffic cop by slowing the rush hour into an organized, well fueled flow of performance processes, such as the signals being driven from the gut to the liver and the pancreas to the kidneys, and so on.

Fatty coffee is a great way to teach your body to utilize fatty acids for fuel, instead of glucose (Sugar). This can satiate you so you don’t eat a high carbohydrate breakfast.

Studies show caffeine intake can increase ketones.Study shows caffeine doubled ketone production. Caffeine given at breakfast significantly stimulated ketone production in a dose-dependent manner (+88%; +116%) and also raised plasma free fatty acids. http://bit.ly/2V5NFMu

My favorite fats to add to my coffee, grass fed ghee, brain octane oil. Check out my video on how to make the best keto cup of coffee in the world.
