Approach to Pancytopenia

About this episode

This podcast will discuss an approach to pancytopenia in children. By the end of this podcast, listeners should be able to (1) define pancytopenia, (2) explain how clinical manifestations and investigations may point to a specific diagnosis, (3) understand how the presence of pancytopenia can signal an underlying diagnosis of Acute Leukemia, and (4) understand how the presentation of pancytopenia can be indicative of Aplastic Anemia. The podcast was created by Maya Fields, a second-year medical student at McMaster University, in collaboration with Dr. Vicky Breakey, a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist also at McMaster University.
