87. The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness ...

TOMMY ROSEN
About this episode

On this week’s episode of In The Circle, I’m thrilled to reconnect with my friend, Dr. Gabor Maté.

Gabor Maté is a renowned medical doctor, five-time international bestselling author, humanitarian, and highly respected speaker. His acclaimed book on addiction, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, is widely used in academic institutions across Canada and the U.S.

His latest work, The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture, spent 19 weeks on the New York Times list and remains a top bestseller in Canada.

This marks the 10th time I’ve interviewed Gabor, and I’m truly grateful for his ongoing support. Our collaborations have brought positive change to the Recovery 2.0 community.

Tommy Discusses:

  • Life beyond, and before, addiction
  • The role of trauma in addiction
  • The importance of grieving
  • The inequality in access to addiction recovery
  • Our need for human connection
