#254 - Shaming Yourself Is Not A Virtue,...

Tarryn MacCarthy
About this episode

In this episode, Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy talks about the harmful effects of being too hard on yourself and how it can lead to burnout, exhaustion, and even depression. She shares a story of a patient's mother who was angry and trying to find blame. Being on the receiving end of anger like this can lead to feelings of disempowerment, fear, and anger. The evil twin of self-reflection will show its ugly head. You have to remember that it's not always about you. You can use one technique from the Radical Happiness course that will help you address the problem with the presence of mind and compassion. Then, you can find a plan or solution that will calm everyone involved.
