Connecting with Our Teenagers with Guest...

MICHELLE KENNEY, M. ED
About this episode

I love all things teenager and so does my guest Kristen Cobabe the “teen whisperer”. When I first became a teen I found myself at a loss as to what to do and how to interact with my daughter. It was murky water and I struggled to say the least. But I have found my way and now I am enjoying the teenage years more than I thought I would.

Today I’m joined by Kirsten Cobabe, who has worked with teenagers since she herself was a teenager as a mentor. In our discussion today, we talk about how to communicate best with both teens and tweens. This is one of the most significant developmental stages for them-- it's only right that we try our best to guide them without forcing their hands.

Be sure to listen in! The best way to reach our teenagers is through connection, not control.

Episode Highlights:

  • Kirsten’s background and experience
  • How dealing with teens and tweens is different from a kid
  • What you need to know about raising a teenager
  • The changes that come with the teenager stage
  • Why saying no is not our job as parents
  • We need to choose our relationship with our kids over small issues

How can we “shame-proof” our parenting?

There are ways we can eradicate shame from our everyday interactions with our children. Building in ways to address our children can promote resilience and self-esteem rather than jeopardizing these precious commodities for our children. Nobody wants to shame, but sometimes we need a little help figuring out what else we can do. Click here to download the FREE guide now - https://www.peaceandparentingla.com/shame-opt-in
