The biology of anorexia with Zeina Beida...

MEEDA
About this episode

In this episode, MEEDA President Dr Jeremy Alford meets Zeina Beidas, Anorexia survivor and co-producer of the movie GAIN. Zeina evokes her story with Anorexia Nervosa and Depression, and why she felt compelled to make a movie about it. She also reminds people that only 10% of anorexia patients have access to treatment, and what she feels needs to change in order to improve this number. Dr Alford and Zeina also discuss the biological predisposition of anorexia and how genetics play a role too, which is not talked about enough. They talk about fasting as a potential trigger for AN, and how to know if fasting is dangerous for you.

This episode ends season 1 of the MEEDA podcast. Season 2 will be starting in September 2021. Have a beautiful summer!
