Diversity Drives Innovation: Robin and A...

Rebecca Minkoff
About this episode

Oceans apart, in two of the most well-respected wine growing regions of the world, two sisters grew up thinking they were only children. When a combination of persistent searching and a dose of magic reunited the two, they were fascinated to learn that not only did they resemble each other in appearance, but also that their upbringing and their interests were remarkably similar.

At the time they didn’t know it, but together Robin and Andréa McBride would create the largest Black-owned, sustainably driven wine company in the U.S., McBride Sisters Wine Collection. Forging ahead in a stuffy industry dominated by older white men, Andréa and Robin have discovered that theirs is not only an epicurean journey, but ultimately one of social change as they work to redefine the field, welcoming women and people of color to the inner workings of the world of wine.
