Lancé sur les écrans en 1988, le nouveau slogan de Nike, "Just Do It" marque les esprits dans le monde entier et permet à Nike de devenir en quelques années le nouveau leader du marché. Pendant ce temps, Adidas traverse une mauvaise passe. Ventes en baisse, modèles dépassés, sportifs qui abandonnent les trois bandes au profit de la virgule... jusqu'au décès du fils du fondateur, qui entraîne la vente de l'entreprise. Les nouveaux propriétaires de la marque vont frapper un grand coup en recrutant deux anciens dirigeants de Nike pour relancer Adidas aux Etats-Unis. Leur mission : trouver comment faire passer le chiffre d'affaires d'un million à... un milliard. Et ils doivent faire vite.
