Talksport
About this episode

It's time now his for the final episode of talkSPORT’s ‘After The Lights Go Out’ series.

Presented by Steve Harmison and Leon McKenzie, the programme focuses on the struggles of professional athletes following their retirement from sport – and the next instalment features a man who made his football league debut at the age of 15 – Matthew Etherington.

Matthew suffered from a severe gambling addiction during his playing career – most prominently during his five-year spell with West Ham United. Here he reflects on how the Hammers players spent the afternoon ahead of a vital UEFA Cup tie in Palermo.
