There are things I believed so strongly ten years ago that I look back now and think… girl. WHAT were we doing?!
When I started The Purpose Show, I was a Christian mom raising four little kids, and I had some very strong opinions about what it meant to be a good woman, a good mother, and a good wife.
Well. A LOT has changed.
In Part 1 of this conversation, we're getting into two of the biggest beliefs I've completely changed my mind about: Christianity being the right way to live and raise children, and the idea that marriage should last forever because divorce means failure.
We're talking purity culture, religious shame, raising children to obey instead of question, the expectations placed on women in marriage, and why I think we've gotten the definition of a successful marriage completely wrong.
I'm also sharing what ending my marriage actually made possible for our family, because divorce doesn't always look the way people assume it does.
And honestly? I think there's something really important about being willing to change your mind, especially when you've spent years sharing your beliefs publicly.
Some people will see that growth and think it's sad. Others will be like, FUCK YES.
And that's okay.
This isn't about telling you what to believe. It's about questioning the things we've accepted as truth without ever really examining them.
Let's get into it.
