On Halloween morning in 2019, 26-year-old Kristen Trickle was supposed to get up and go to work. Her alarm was set, and Halloween candy was waiting in the kitchen for trick-or-treaters. Instead, her husband, Colby Trickle, called 911 in Hays, Kansas, and said she had shot herself.The coroner made his ruling, but Kristen’s family didn’t believe it, and neither did the detective who walked into that house. Kristen's tragic death turned into a years-long fight to prove what really happened, one that ended with the first psychological autopsy ever used in a Kansas criminal case.This is Kristen’s story: who she was, the life she was building, and the investigation that refused to let her death be written off.
