What would change in your life if you stopped needing everyone to like you?
So many of us give away our power without even realizing it. We change how we speak, what we share, how we dress, what we create, and sometimes even who we are because we’re worried about what other people will think.
In this episode of Empowering Her, I’m talking about people-pleasing, self-worth, confidence, authenticity, and what it really takes to stop seeking approval from everyone around you.
Because the truth is: not everyone is going to like you.
Some people may prefer an older version of you. Some people may feel uncomfortable with your growth. Some people simply won’t connect with the way you think, speak, create, or move through the world.
And that doesn’t automatically mean you need to change.
We’re also talking about how we can teach girls and the next generation to handle criticism, rejection, and other people’s opinions without immediately believing something is wrong with them.
Of course, this isn’t about ignoring feedback or refusing accountability. If we’re operating outside of kindness, integrity, and respect, that matters. But when you are simply being yourself and someone doesn’t approve? Their reaction doesn’t always need to become your responsibility.
In this episode, we explore:
How to stop caring so much about what other people think
Why people-pleasing can keep you from becoming who you really are
How seeking approval affects confidence and self-worth
Why growth can sometimes make other people uncomfortable
How to help girls handle criticism and rejection
The difference between healthy feedback and someone simply not liking you
How to stop giving your power away
Why authenticity requires being willing to be misunderstood
How to live your life without constantly editing yourself for others
Your challenge this week is simple: the next time you notice yourself wanting to shrink, edit, explain, or change something authentic about yourself because someone may not approve, remind yourself:
I am not for everyone.
You can be kind. You can live with integrity. You can care deeply about other people.
And you can still give them permission not to like you.
Because this is your one precious life. You get to live it as yourself.
