ABOUT THE GUEST
Professor Farid Esack is a South African scholar of Islam, a veteran of the anti-apartheid struggle, and one of the most widely read Muslim academic voices from this country. Formed in the Tablighi Jamaat and trained in the dars-i-nizami in Karachi before completing his doctoral work abroad, he served the Muslim Judicial Council and later held national office in the democratic South Africa.
