1.5 years in: What no one tells you abou...

Wendy Lopez, Jessica Jones
About this episode

In this solo episode, Jessica shares what it’s really been like running Diabetes Digital for the past 1.5 years. She reflects on the journey from two dietitians to a growing team of 11 (with 3 more onboarding), over 6,000 visits completed, and 80+ referring providers.

She breaks down the behind-the-scenes work that no one sees—like managing insurance credentialing, paying $5K a month in software, and leading a team that now includes a tech coordinator, two full-time admin staff, a web developer, and a full SEO and Google Ads team. She also talks about the launch of group visits, Jenny’s new role as Outreach Manager, Nikki’s promotion to Clinical Manager, and the company’s first retreat in Palm Springs.

Jessica walks through what a typical day looks like for her and Wendy, why their goal is to break even this year, and the financial realities of building a mission-driven company that centers weight-inclusive, culturally relevant care. She shares what’s next—including plans to grow to 20 RDs, launch more community classes, and continue expanding referral and employer partnerships.

If your company wants Diabetes Digital to lead a class or speak to your team, reach out at jessica@diabetesdigital.co.
