About this episode

Title: The Ice-haired Guardian

Level: Intermediate (B)

#Story :

In the snowy mountains of Japan, Yama Yurei, a woman with hair made of ice, was created by the mountain gods to protect the world from ancient darkness. She lived alone in an ice palace, high in the peaks, and each night, she descended to battle dark creatures born from the earth’s chaos. Despite her endless struggle, Yama Yurei never wavered, using her frozen powers to keep the darkness at bay. One harsh winter, a young boy climbed the mountain to seek her help, and Yama Yurei renewed her fight to protect the villagers from the creeping cold.

#Vocabulary :

  1. Legendary – famous or admired for special qualities.
  2. Vigil – a watch kept during normal sleeping hours.
  3. Chaos – complete disorder or confusion.
  4. Endless – having no end or limit.
  5. Guardian – someone who protects or defends something.

#Grammar Focus:

  1. Past Simple Tense
  2. This tense describes completed actions in the past, such as "lived" and "climbed." It is commonly used in storytelling to narrate events that happened in order.
  3. Third-person Singular Verbs
  4. Verbs in the present tense get an 's' when describing he, she, or it, such as "descends" and "seeks." This rule helps form correct sentences in the third person.
  5. Modal Verbs
  6. Modal verbs like "could" and "might" show ability or possibility. In the story, "She could freeze rivers" describes an ability, while "The boy might find her" expresses a possibility.
