It's the Small Things - Acute Appendicit...

MEDGEEKS
About this episode

In the latest podcast episode, we tackle a common concern about an abdominal troublemaker known as appendicitis.

Classic symptoms of appendicitis include nausea, vomiting, and pain that typically starts near the navel and then migrates to the lower right abdomen. To diagnose appendicitis, a thorough physical exam is essential. However, the most definitive diagnostic tool is a CT scan, which provides detailed images of the appendix and can confirm the diagnosis.

Once diagnosed, the primary treatment for appendicitis is surgical removal of the appendix, known as an appendectomy. There are two main types of appendectomy: laparoscopic and open surgery.

Join Dr. Niket Sonpal as we delve into the intricacies of appendicitis, from recognizing the early warning signs to understanding the best practices for diagnosis and treatment.
