November 19th: John Straffen Dies (2007)
Understanding how mental deficiencies affect crime and, more importantly, punishment, can be difficult even for experts. On November 19th 2007 the oldest serving prisoner in British history, at that time, died behind bars in a case that saw many, many people arguing his mental capacity to understand right from wrong.
