ADHD Loud and Proud with Kara Marni

Kate Moryoussef
About this episode

I've always been a firm believer that once we're aware of our neurodivergence, we all need to be 'Tapping into our ADHD Gold'. I even created a workshop (check it out here) specifically about this, as I believe that when we reframe our strengths and stop focussing as much on all our challenges and what we can't do, the ADHD genius is given more space to expand!

And this is what we talk about in today’s episode with my guest, Kara Marni, a rising soul and R&B vocalist who has been on a steady ascension since 2019 when she headlined the Pussy Parlure stage at Glastonbury before embarking on a sold-out UK & European tour. In this period, the singer/writer has gone on to support many notable artists, from Lewis Capaldi to Rita Ora, Raye and Ray BLK to name a few, with a string of festivals and high-profile performances to her name, including Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury.

Kara is a family girl who grew up in a house of music (& food) lovers and credits her Greek ancestry for a confident personality, big appetite and big hair. Seldom short of something to say, Kara is a self-professed chatterbox, injecting her creativity and high energy into her lyricism. A self-taught guitarist, Kara recently partnered with supporters Fender as a part of their impressive roster.

On today's ADHD women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Kara speak about:

  • Focusing the energy of ADHD children in school
  • Finding the right educational environment for ADHD
  • Kara's passion for music and perfroming
  • The joy of channelling your hyper-focus positively
  • Being creative over academic in the school system
  • Being mindful without meditation
  • Leaning into self-care to prevent burnout
  • Knowing your energy and how to work with it
  • Choosing to be sober with ADHD
