#465: The Murder of Kristi Johnson | Par...

Real Crime Profile / Wondery
About this episode

We finish our conversation with Cathy DeBuono, who talks about her near-miss experience with Victor Paleologus, the serial stalker, rapist, and murderer of Kristi Johnson.

Cathy tells us how Paleologus approached her at the same Los Angeles mall where he would target Kristi Johnson four years later. She describes the eerily similar ploy he tried to get her to meet him at a Hollywood Hills location on the pretext of a job interview. Fortunately for Cathy, she walked away unharmed, but she never forgot that encounter and when she heard about Kristi’s murder she came forward and was a witness for the prosecution in his trial. Since then Cathy has become an advocate for Kristi’s family in their efforts to keep this voracious offender behind bars and made it her mission to make sure all of the victims who were attacked by Victor Paleologus have their voices heard.
