How to Shape Your Taste | Continuing to ...

Alice Lane
About this episode
Sue had this epiphany the other day when we were driving down the road and talking about what to talk about on the podcast and she said she had a juicy one. Taste is an ever evolving thing that we should be feeding, which will continue to change and be molded over time as we are exposed to different things. Taste is subjective and really just uniquely developed for every person. We are asked to design people’s homes and interpret them through our lens, taking what taste notes we have on what pairs nicely with their story and creating an environment where they feel at home and that their taste has been reflected correctly. “Good taste is better than bad taste, but bad taste is better than no taste.”

  • How to shape your taste 3:30
  • Your taste evolves 7:25
  • Genius creates and taste preserves 8:50
  • Growing up and developing our own tastes 16:15
  • The importance of finding people who support you 22:55
  • You don’t need a lot of money to have good taste 24:50
“Just because you’re speaking in absolutes doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re right. I think that portrays confidence and people mistake confidence with having good opinions, and those are not necessarily synonymous with each other, although I think you have to have a level of confidence to be able to build your good taste.” 5:31
