About this episode
Dr. Dina Al-Tayeb is the first Saudi and first Arab woman to complete the Ironman World Championship, an endurance event held annually in Hawaii that takes the average competitor 13 hours to complete. It starts with an open water swim of 2.4 miles (3.86 km), then a 112-mile (180 km) bike race, and ends with a marathon (26 miles or 42 km). Dina is also a mother and a periodontist with a love of drumming and music. Despite the physical toll racing has on the body, she loves the thrill of being an athlete and has finished over one hundred triathlons. She shares her secret to success, outlook on life, and how she balances it all.
