Text: "Last week, my friends and I went on a road trip to Annaba. We needed to quench our thirst for adventure after a whole year without traveling. We left El Djelfa at the crack of dawn so we could reach my friend Djafar’s native village by lunch time. He’s originally from the region of Biskra and still has many uncles and cousins living there. Driving there was amazing. It was impressive to see the millions of date trees. We ate at the best local restaurant. It felt good to break the journey. We were getting tired of being stuck in Salim’s old car. We got out and stretched our legs, bought a bunch of snacks and carried on our way. We bought some cakes, some salted peanuts and some dates. Djafar ate most of them. Soheib didn’t eat much because he didn’t stop talking. He gave us a headache. We got to Annaba at around three in the afternoon and went straight to the beach. We didn’t even stop at the hotel to register or to unpack. Annaba is gorgeous. Salim jumped in the water head first. The breeze felt amazing. The weather was good during the whole stay. The temperature was between 25 and 30 degrees, compared to 45 back home. We challenged ourselves to swim in at least ten different beaches, so every day was a new adventure. Djafar bought a kids tube and floated all day. He called himself “The Happiest Man at the Beach.” We couldn’t stop laughing at him."
