Supporting Students With Hearing Loss wi...

Hallie Sherman
About this episode

Are you working with students that are deaf or hard of hearing? Learning how to properly support these students is so important. In this episode of SLP Coffee Talk, I sat down with Deanna Magda to discuss how we can best help these students reach their goals.

Deanna Magda is a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and a certified Auditory Verbal Educator. Through Listening Fun, she creates resources for TODs and SLPs in the areas of auditory skill development, language, and self-advocacy. The best part of her job is helping children learn to communicate with their families, friends, and communities. Deanna lives in New Jersey with her family and foster cats.

There are many ways that we as SLPs can better support our students with hearing loss. Deanna dives into how we can work together with the teacher of the deaf and help our students get the help they need to learn and thrive both in speech and in the classroom.

Tune in to learn more about what these teachers do to help students with hearing loss, how teachers and SLPs can best support these students, tips for teaching students to listen and hear, and so much more!
