In this episode of the Business English Podcast we discuss the exact topics and phrases that professionals could use when starting small talk.  We practise these throughout the episode as well as giving you the opportunity to get involved too.
We also lay out the 4 key guidelines to adhere to when making small talk to keep you on the right side of the conversation - stopping you sounding rude and unprofessional.

==============

The four key guidelines of small talk are:

1. DON'T talk about politics or religion (or any other sensitive subject)
2. DO talk about 'Shared Experience'
3. DON'T just talk about you and your thoughts
4. DO ask questions

==============

Some safe topic areas for small talk are:

• The weather (of course!)
• The current environment
• The event
