In this first episode of the Business English Podcast, we discuss how to make a great first impression on your first day.

After a brief introduction to the Business English Podcast and its host, Rob, we begin exploring the skills required to create a strong first impression.

We explore the importance of good time keeping and neat turnout as a professional or entrepreneur.  We then explain exactly what Business English communication skills are required in an initial interaction in order to create a strong first impression.

• Correct salutations for a formal or informal environment
• Addressing your audience in a polite manner
• A  clean and succinct personal introduction
• A strong and professional introduction of your job or role

We then talk through a few tips on how to 'deliver' these pieces of professional communication.

• The best tone of voice and intonation to use
• Smiling to assist  promoting competence
• Controlling the speed of your speech to improve the audience's understanding

Essentially, 'Simplicity' and 'Confidence' are the key ingredients in Business English to create a strong first impression.

“Perfection is achieved when there is nothing left to take away.”
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
