Mothers' mental health: Psychiatrist Dr ...

SBS Audio
About this episode

In this podcast, SBS Hindi discusses the issue of mental health of expecting and new mothers with a Melbourne-based psychiatrist, Dr Amit Zutshi. Dr Zutshi says that many new mothers experience the 'baby blues', a phase when you become overly emotional, and that's normal. However, he says signs of extreme sadness, worthlessness or lack of sleep and energy should not be taken lightly and new mothers should seek help from friends and the community without feeling stigmatised.
