Healing and Leadership (Part 1)

JAKE KHYM & BOB SCHUCHTS
About this episode

Today we're excited to launch a brand new, multi-part series on leadership, a topic that impacts everyone. Who is a leader and what is leadership? Why does healing matter for leaders? How can leaders bring healing to others? All these questions and more will be addressed in the weeks ahead as we hear from Jake, Bob and loads of special guests. In part one, Jake and Bob share parts of their own stories as they explore why ongoing healing is essential for anyone who takes leadership seriously.

Guiding Quote:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” (Luke 16:10)

Key points:

  • Leadership is everywhere
  • We’re all called to be leaders
  • Jesus treats leaders differently and the Bible addresses leadership often
  • Character is amplified in leadership
  • Leadership is about self-sacrifice even unto death
  • How secrecy and avoiding healing affects leadership
  • The Holy Spirit is not condemning
  • What it looks like to operate out of a place of sonship rather than as an orphan
  • Healing is an ongoing process

Practical Application:

  1. Reflect on who you are influencing. How are you a leader in ways that go beyond your position at work?
  2. Ask yourself the following questions:
    1. How has brokenness affected your leadership?
    2. How has healing affected your leadership?
    3. How are you bringing healing to others?
    4. How do you see the role of healing in leadership?
