Barbara Sahakian is Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at Cambridge, Past-President of the International Neuroethics Society, Past-President of the British Association for Psychopharmacology, and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

In this talk, she discusses her book "Sex, Lies, and Brain Scans: How fMRI Reveals What Really Goes on in Our Minds". With co-author Julia Gottwald, she takes readers beyond the media headlines, considering what the technique of fMRI entails, and what information it can give us. They show which applications are possible today, which ones are science fiction, and also discuss the important ethical questions these techniques raise.
