The alma maters of marathon runner Rachel Apa are finishing the New York City Marathon for her today. Apa collapsed at mile 24 during last week’s marathon, later dying from a rare condition that can happen from overexertion called rhabdomyolysis. Both her college, Bucknell University, and her high school are holding run/walk memorials to finish the 2.2 miles Rachel needed to cross the finish line. Her family released a heartbreaking obituary honoring the 24-year-old and asking all of us to take her courageous spirit with us “to live truthfully and fully.”
