Nvidia, Micron, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm, and other mega-cap names are dragging the market lower, raising the question of whether we're finally seeing the beginning of a much bigger AI-driven selloff. But the most interesting part is what's happening underneath the surface.Market breadth had actually been improving before today's decline. More stocks were moving above their 50-day and 200-day moving averages, bullish momentum signals were increasing, and the equal-weight S&P 500 had been moving higher while the market-cap-weighted S&P 500 moved sideways. So why can the market fall so hard when breadth looks constructive?Because mega-cap technology stocks have an enormous influence on a market-cap-weighted index. When Nvidia, AMD, Micron, Intel, and Qualcomm suddenly drop sharply, their size creates a much larger impact on SPY and the Nasdaq. We also look at what defensive sector strength can tell us. Utilities and consumer staples were among the strongest areas on the day, while the VIX was spiking higher. When defensive sectors start outperforming while technology gets hammered, it's another warning that market conditions are changing. The video also gets into an important options trading lesson: convexity.Deep in-the-money options can change their delta as the underlying stock moves. An option that starts around 80 delta can move closer to 100 delta as the stock rises, while its delta can fall as the stock declines. Rising implied volatility can also increase the value of the option's extrinsic value during a sharp market move. The biggest lesson is risk management. When the market gives you a sell signal, you need a plan. Position sizing matters, and having a small enough position can make the difference between taking a painful loss and getting completely wrecked.✅ Major Nasdaq and technology stock selloff✅ AI bubble concerns and market concentration✅ SPY, equal-weight S&P 500, and market breadth✅ VIX, defensive sectors, and changing market conditions✅ Options convexity, delta, and extrinsic value✅ Risk management and following your trading planThe market doesn't have to tell you what happens next.
