Detection Dog vs Sea Vomit

Caloroga Shark Media / Happiness Good News Lab
About this episode
Johnny Mac shares five good news stories: Tanzania’s government officially designated a 14-kilometer-long, 200-meter-wide wildlife corridor in April 2025 after the Southern Tanzania Elephant Program mapped a route and compensated 368 landowners; cameras recorded at least 1,440 mammals, including 529 elephants, and Reforest Africa planted 100,000 native trees with 50,000 more planned. In southern Norway, melting glaciers studied by the Secrets of the Ice project have yielded 73 archeological sites and over 5,000 artifacts, including intact arrowheads and shafts up to 3,600 years old and an arrowhead possibly 6,000 years old. In Scotland, marine biologist Dr. Sim uses detection dog Druski to locate invasive “sea vomit” (Didemnum vexillum) and is training for other targets. A Queens-born truck driver built a massive balsa-and-foam scale model of New York City over 20 years, leading to a Museum of the City of New York exhibit. In Busan, South Korea, an 11.5-foot gray shark became a popular attraction after getting trapped in an artificial canal despite rescue attempts.
