She writes that she was 8 when civil war broke out in Somalia, in a chapter dated 1989, and that she was 30 on a 2011 trip, both pointing to a birth year of 1981 or earlier. That matters because her office changed her birth year to 1982 after she was elected, and she would have needed to be a minor to get citizenship through her father.
