Hour 2 of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show centers on the final eight days before the 2026 midterm elections, with Clay Travis and Buck Sexton focusing heavily on voter turnout, early voting strategy, election data, and key battleground state developments. The hosts discuss the approximately 30 million ballots already cast nationwide and argue that early voting trends do not indicate a Democratic surge. Throughout the hour, they encourage listeners to vote early, debate the advantages of banking ballots before Election Day, and take calls from listeners offering differing perspectives on early voting versus traditional Election Day voting. The conversation includes analysis of polling reliability, Republican turnout efforts, and competitive races in states such as Texas, Michigan, Maine, North Carolina, and Florida. Clay and Buck suggest that early voting data provides a more meaningful measure of voter enthusiasm than public polling and discuss concerns among Democrats in several key races as the campaign enters its final week.
A significant political discussion examines the role of social media and free speech in modern elections. Marking four years since Elon Musk acquired Twitter, now X, the hosts argue that the platform's ownership change transformed the online political landscape. They contend that social media censorship during the COVID-era represented a major challenge to free expression and credit Musk’s acquisition with creating a more open marketplace of ideas. Clay and Buck also discuss the broader impact of X on journalism, political discourse, election coverage, and information distribution, arguing that the platform reduced the ability of traditional media organizations to control political narratives. The hosts connect this discussion to ongoing debates about government accountability, media influence, technology companies, and free speech protections.
The hour also includes substantial conversation about the state of several high-profile Senate races and broader electoral trends. Clay and Buck analyze Republican prospects in Michigan, discuss Susan Collins’ race in Maine, evaluate Democratic concerns surrounding turnout among key voting blocs, and assess whether media narratives surrounding Democratic momentum in states like Texas are beginning to weaken. They emphasize voter participation as the decisive factor in close elections and repeatedly encourage audience members to cast ballots before Election Day. Listener calls and talkbacks reinforce the theme, with several audience members reporting that the hosts’ advocacy prompted them to vote early.
A major portion of Hour 2 features an in-depth interview with Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The discussion begins with election strategy before shifting into healthcare policy, Medicare, Medicaid, federal spending, healthcare reform, and healthcare technology. Dr. Oz argues that increasing voter participation can have a decisive impact in battleground states and shares observations from recent travel across the country discussing healthcare issues with voters.
The healthcare interview then focuses extensively on government healthcare spending and efforts to combat Medicare and Medicaid fraud. Dr. Oz outlines ongoing initiatives aimed at reducing waste, fraud, and abuse within federally funded healthcare programs, describing anti-fraud efforts involving coordination among multiple federal agencies. The conversation examines healthcare oversight, organized criminal activity targeting government healthcare programs, improper billing practices, taxpayer protections, and efforts to improve accountability within the healthcare system. The hosts and Oz discuss how reducing fraudulent claims could lower healthcare costs while preserving resources for eligible beneficiaries.
Artificial intelligence becomes another major topic, with Clay, Buck, and Dr. Oz expressing optimism about AI-driven healthcare innovation. They discuss how AI and what Oz refers to as “super intelligence” could transform patient care by providing personalized medical guidance, improving disease management, enhancing treatment recommendations, reducing healthcare costs, and helping patients better understand their medical conditions. The discussion highlights the potential role of AI in addressing chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, while also examining regulatory challenges associated with emerging healthcare technologies.
The interview further explores GLP-1 weight-loss medications, Medicare coverage, prescription drug costs, healthcare affordability, and pharmaceutical innovation. Dr. Oz argues that expanding access to weight-loss treatments could reduce long-term healthcare expenditures by improving population health and lowering the incidence of obesity-related illnesses. The conversation also addresses drug pricing reforms, government negotiations with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare accessibility, and the balance between encouraging medical innovation and controlling costs for taxpayers and patients.
The latter portion of the interview focuses on medical research, FDA approvals, clinical trials, healthcare technology modernization, and America’s competition with China in artificial intelligence development. Dr. Oz discusses ongoing efforts to accelerate the review and approval process for promising therapies and technologies while maintaining safety standards. The conversation examines how AI may improve clinical research, shorten development timelines for new treatments, enhance healthcare delivery, and strengthen America's position in global technological competition.
Hour 2 concludes by returning to listener interaction and election turnout efforts. The hosts share additional audience reactions to their early-voting campaign, exchange humorous commentary with callers, and reiterate their belief that early voting increases participation and helps campaigns focus resources on remaining undecided or infrequent voters.
