This episode is a replay from our Gratitude for Your Mental Health meditation series, episodes 2152–2158.
Today, we bring awareness to the heart chakra, known as Anahata, and use breath, visualization, and gratitude to reconnect with the people, places, and experiences that support us.
Today's theme is Open.
The goal is not to force your heart to feel a certain way.
The goal is to create enough inner space to notice the love and connection already present in your life.
My heart is open to love and gratitude.
In today's meditation, you'll practice heart chakra awareness:
bring gentle attention to the center of your chest
follow the natural rhythm of your breath
visualize a soft green light around your heart
reflect on someone or something that helps you feel supported
allow feelings of love and gratitude to arise naturally
The heart chakra is associated with:
Sanskrit name: Anahata
Color: Green
Element: Air
Qualities: Love, compassion, connection and gratitude
The intention is simple:
Open to the support that is already present.
As you breathe, imagine a soft green light gently expanding around your heart.
You might silently repeat:
I receive love.
I offer gratitude.
I am connected to what matters.
There is no need to create a dramatic emotional experience.
A quiet sense of warmth, appreciation, or connection is enough.
Feelings of connection and appreciation can broaden our perspective, especially when the mind has become focused on isolation, stress, or difficulty.
Remembering someone who has supported you can help bring attention to the relationships and resources available in your life. Even a brief moment of appreciation may remind you that you are part of a larger network of care.
Gratitude allows the mind to recognize:
I have been helped.
I have been cared for.
I am not entirely alone.
In the yogic tradition, Anahata is the energy center associated with love, compassion, balance, and connection.
Its element is air—spacious, moving, and impossible to hold too tightly.
The heart also needs space.
We can allow love to arrive without grasping and offer gratitude without expecting anything in return.
Like the breath, love moves between receiving and giving.
During today's meditation, you'll:
Arrive: Settle into a comfortable position and notice your natural breath.
Center: Bring awareness to the space around your heart.
Visualize: Imagine a soft green light glowing at the center of your chest.
Receive: Remember a person, place, or experience that has supported you.
Expand: Allow the green light to grow gently with each breath.
Offer: Silently express gratitude for the love present in your life.
Rest: Release the visualization and sit quietly.
Allow the practice to be subtle.
Your heart does not need to open all at once.
Repeat slowly:
My heart is open to love and gratitude.
I recognize the support present in my life.
I am connected to people and experiences that matter.
And finally:
I receive love, and I offer gratitude.
Gratitude reminds us that much of what sustains us arrives through connection.
A kind word.
A helping hand.
A shared memory.
A place where we feel welcome.
A person who sees us clearly.
Pause long enough to recognize the love that has reached you.
Dear Friend,
You do not need to open your heart beyond what feels safe today.
Simply notice one person, place, or experience that has offered you support.
Allow yourself to receive the memory of that care.
Let it remind you that love does not always arrive through grand gestures. Often, it is found in the quiet ways people remain present for one another.
Today, let yourself notice that presence.
With care,
Mary
Ask yourself:
Who or what helps my heart feel open, supported, and connected—and how might I acknowledge that today?
Take one slow, natural breath and repeat:
My heart is open to love and gratitude.
Every day this week, let someone know you appreciate them.
You might:
send a thoughtful text or email,
make a phone call,
write a short letter,
or speak your appreciation in person.
Today, thank someone who has helped you feel loved, understood, or supported.
