In this episode of Verdict Week in Review with Ted Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson discuss Tucker Carlson's recent commentary on Russia, World War II-era political figures, and foreign policy, analyze claims about the political effects of reduced USAID spending in Latin America, and examine debates surrounding U.S. influence abroad, socialism, communism, and the future political direction of countries throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson examine a growing controversy surrounding Tucker Carlson, arguing that his recent comments on foreign policy, Russia, and historical political movements reflect a dramatic shift in his public positions. The discussion focuses on Carlson’s remarks about Nazi-affiliated figures, free speech, Russia, and his endorsement of political candidates Cruz strongly opposes. The episode then turns to the impact of cuts to USAID funding under the Trump administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Cruz argues that the reduction of foreign aid funding has coincided with a series of conservative electoral victories across Latin America, raising broader questions about the role U.S. government funding may have played in supporting political and ideological movements abroad. He contends that American taxpayer dollars were used to advance left-wing political causes throughout the region and that recent election results suggest a significant shift in voter preferences.
