A Texas man was executed after a nearly two hour delay on Wednesday using the exact same, single dose method of pentobarbital that Tennessee administered to Christa Pike. The outcome was very different for 46-year-old Jamaal Howard, who was pronounced dead within 15 minutes. Howard apologized to his victim’s family in his final words, after being convicted in the shooting death of convenience store worker Vickie Swartout back in 2000.
