Totally Extra: Let's talk about Becks

THE ATHLETIC
About this episode

Jimbo is joined by Ian Irving, Michael Cox and Duncan Alexander to celebrate David Beckham, 25 years on from his iconic free kick against Greece.

From East London to global superstardom, he lit up English football with his magical right foot and the red carpets with his good looks.

Not the fastest or the biggest as a kid, he famously practiced relentlessly and was taken under the wing of Alex Ferguson who turned him into one of the Premier League greats, winning 6 Premier League titles and shining as Man Utd won the treble in 99.

A talismanic England captain, he wore his heart on his sleeve and perenially found himself on the front and back pages in a tabloid time.

But having become one of the world's most famous people, do we forget just how good he was?

Produced by Jesse Howard and Charlie Jones.
