A new national research centre is aiming to improve how FASD is prevented, diagnosed and supported.
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is a lifelong disability caused by prenatal alcohol exposure, but because its effects are often hidden, it can go unrecognised for years. In this episode:
- Jessica's journey to getting a FASD diagnosis.
- How many Australians are impacted by FASD.
- The stigma associated with FASD and its impacts.
- The barriers for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and Australia's first FASD Indigenous Framework.
- The experiences of people with FASD in the criminal justice system.
- How the new national FASD research centre hopes to help.
