In 2008, a man named Lindemberg Alves held 15-year-old Eloá and her friends hostage for over 100 hours, and it was all captured on camera and aired on TV for the country to see. This tragedy received media attention not only from the hostage situation, but because of the glaring mistakes committed by the São Paulo police and government officials.
