I went out to Frisco, Texas to meet Angela Henson, a 20-year-old who turned her parents’ front porch into Little Bit Bakery, a home bakery doing around $2,000 in sales every Saturday morning. Angela showed me exactly how she runs the business, from baking sourdough, cinnamon rolls, cookies and bagels to managing preorders and selling out to lines of customers in about an hour. We talked about how she started without a big audience, how one simple TikTok helped the business take off, and the steps someone could follow to start their own micro bakery from home. We also broke down pricing, costs, cottage food laws, social media and why selling directly to your local community can be such a powerful business model.
