There’s a social media war going on right now between several female athletes and actress Sydney Sweeney. After Sweeney appeared in a new sports betting ad wearing next to nothing, several high profile women from varying sports have likened the ad to “a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life” to sports. They’ve gone on to show highlight reels of their competitions, training and accomplishments with captions that read, “this is way a woman in sports looks like” and many of them have racked up hundreds of thousands, even a million views. But many are clapping back, calling out the female athletes, asking why it it not ok for Sweeney to use her own sexuality to empower herself?
