What if feeling more in control has less to do with managing everything around you—and more to do with returning to the steadiness within you?
Welcome to Day 3 of our 7-day meditation series, Brahmacharya: The Art of Moderation — Protect Your Energy & Restore Balance.
So far this week, we've explored:
Day 1 — Release: letting go of excess and noticing where your energy is being overused.
Day 2 — Rest: allowing restoration before depletion takes over.
Today, we move into the arc of Ground.
Brahmacharya invites us to use our energy wisely, and grounding helps us stop scattering that energy into worry, overthinking, and constant reaction.
Today's practice brings us back to the breath, the body, and the present moment.
For today's meditation, use a slow, steady breath:
Inhale for 4
Hold for 4
Exhale for 6
Let the inhale gather your attention.
Let the pause create stillness.
Let the longer exhale help you soften.
As you breathe, repeat:
I return to myself.
I return to what matters.
Moderation becomes much easier when you are grounded.
When you feel scattered, it is easy to reach for more.
More stimulation.
More reassurance.
More distraction.
More activity.
Grounding helps interrupt that impulse.
It gives you a moment to ask:
Do I really need more right now—or do I need to come back to center?
What helps me feel grounded when life begins to feel like too much?
You might also ask:
Where am I spending energy simply because I feel unsettled?
Brahmacharya is often understood as moderation and the wise direction of energy.
Grounding supports that practice because it helps us become less reactive.
When we are grounded, we are more able to notice the difference between:
A true need and an impulse.
A meaningful action and a distraction.
Enough and excess.
Instead of allowing every desire or demand to pull us outward, we learn to remain connected to an inner center.
That steadiness is one of the foundations of moderation.
When the mind is overstimulated, attention can become fragmented.
A simple breathing practice gives the mind one steady point of focus.
Slow breathing can also help create a calmer physiological state, making it easier to respond rather than react.
Grounding does not remove life's demands.
It changes the place from which you meet them.
And often, once the nervous system settles, what felt urgent becomes clearer.
You may realize that not everything requires your energy.
Repeat slowly:
I am grounded.
I am steady.
I choose where my energy goes.
Peace and happiness are within me.
Let these words remind you that balance begins from within.
This week's recommended book explores awareness, discipline, presence, and living with greater intention.
The present moment is the quiet center beneath every excess.
Carry this question with you today:
What becomes simpler when I return to the present?
Brahmacharya teaches us that moderation is easier when we are not being pulled in every direction.
Grounding gives us a place to stand.
A breath.
A body.
A moment.
From there, we can decide what truly deserves our energy.
Dear Friend,
You do not have to follow every thought.
You do not have to respond to every urge.
You do not have to solve everything at once.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to your body.
Come back to the quiet place inside you that does not need to rush.
The more grounded you become, the easier it is to recognize what is enough.
With love,
Mary
Before bed, take three rounds of your grounding breath:
Inhale 4.
Hold 4.
Exhale 6.
Then quietly repeat:
I release the noise of the day.
I return to my center.
My energy is safe with me.
Peace and happiness are within me.
Let your body become heavy.
Let your thoughts soften.
And rest in the steadiness of enough.
