Jacqui believes it was the manner of the defeat that should concern United most, with questions being raised over Michael Carrick’s side lacking intensity and appearing underprepared. But is Martin right to suggest United simply weren’t willing to work hard enough?
We then turn to Spurs, who have spent big in the summer transfer market and enjoyed a full pre-season under Roberto De Zerbi — only to lose their opening game 3-0 to Brentford. Is Miguel right to describe the result as classically Spurs?
Then to the champions, who beat Coventry convincingly 3-0 on Friday. With a refreshed Saka and an even stronger squad available to rotate, are we likely to see Arteta take the handbrake off this season and unleash a more attacking Arsenal side?
Finally, we turn to Liverpool, who, following Curtis Jones’ departure, are without a homegrown player in their first team for the first time in 134 years. Miguel explores the importance of clubs staying connected to their communities, and whether there should be a greater emphasis on homegrown talent and giving academy players a pathway into the first team.
